Mulhall Park
City of Ryde Council, 2017
Mulhall Park is also known as Frog Hollow. The name was given to it by locals. It conjures the closeness of the River, the sounds, the habitats, the low lying rocky outcrop, which houses are built on. And the Community itself, who see themselves as being tightly knit – living in their sanctuary – a hollow.
Mulhall Park and Playground is a quaint little neighbourhood park located in Chatswood West. Located adjacent to the Lane Cove River, the space is popular for locals and surrounding communities who revel in the interconnectedness of green linkages.
Mulhall Park is also known as Frog Hollow. The name was given to it by locals. And the Community itself, who see themselves as being tightly knit – living in their sanctuary – a hollow.
To that end, when City of Ryde Council embarked on the transformation of the Park, which included a playground upgrade, Frog Hollow – as a sub-name to Mulhall Park, drove the vision and themes.
ARTSCAPE worked with the Landscape Architects at City of Ryde – conducting meetings and design charettes with the Community. ARTSCAPE developed the concepts and subsequently documented and delivered the Lily Pad Shade Structure and shot-blast motifs that reference the leafy place and its froggy habitat.
